Tekoa Consulting Engineers were appointed in partnership with Nako Iliso Group to provide professional engineering services to undertake the upgrade of the Bulk Water Supply Infrastructure to the Point Waterfront Area to facilitate oncoming developments. The investigations included pipeline route selection, demand computations, hydraulic modelling, optimisation and relocation of existing services, traffic impact assessments among other activities. The 800mm diameter steel pipe was to be constructed over 4,5km long using two contracts with commissioning targeted for the end of 2021.
Tekoa Consulting Engineers were appointed by the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) to conduct a comprehensive Asset Condition Assessment on 17 sites within the Island View Precinct. The purpose of the exercise was to determine the present condition of the asset, determine its Remaining Useful Life (RUL) and advice the Asset Owner on decisions around the short and long term planning for each of the sites in relation to the Port Development Framework Plan. With infrastructure on the sites ranging from petrochemical tanks, pump stations, process pipework, boilers, compressors and related heavy duty industrial equipment, the multi-disciplinary team applied sector specific standards to successfully complete the following outcomes:

Life-time extension evaluation
Technical qualification for extension
Preparation for obsolescent equipment
Estimation of costs for the lifetime extension

Tekoa Consulting Engineers Project Management and Construction Supervision services on behalf of the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) in the design and construction of new fire system upgrade. Employing advanced technologies and best practice standards such as ASIB, the system included a new salt water pump station, a fire ring main, upgrade to existing sprinkler systems, and installation of ventilation systems, fire and smoke detectors at the main mechanical workshop.
The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) appointed Tekoa Consulting Engineers to deliver a Pre-Feasibility Study (FEL 2) to conduct a condition assessment of the existing infrastructure at the Engen Pty Ltd Lease Site on behalf of the TNPA, Port of Richards Bay. The Engen Lease Site is located in the South Dunes area of Richards Bay. This site is currently under lease to Engen Pty Ltd which represents the Joint Bunker Services (JBS) and provides various types of fuel to vessels that berth at the Port of Richards Bay.
Installations at the Engen site include buildings, tanks, pipelines and firefighting systems which were constructed when the Port was established in 1976. In line with best practise guidelines such as PAS 55/ ISO 55 000, Remaining Useful LifeI (RUL) needed to be determined and recommandations made to the asset owner for Short and Long Term planning.
